What the 2006 vintage chart says for Bolgheri
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart gives Bolgheri Superiore 2006 a score of 97 and the letter R, which stands for ready to drink. That figure rates the vintage across the zone. It is a separate measure from any rating of an individual wine. The letter R in the chart means the vintage is ready to drink, and the score of 97 applies to the Bolgheri Superiore row, which the chart uses for this zone.

Drinking window 2016 to 2031
The drinking window for this bottle runs from 2016 to 2031. It opened ten years after the harvest, so the wine is inside it today, with about five years of the window left.

Antinori’s 1981 estate, Frescobaldi-owned since 2005
Lodovico Antinori founded Ornellaia in 1981 and the first vintage was 1985. The Frescobaldi family bought the remaining half of the estate on 1 April 2005, so the 2006 was made under full Frescobaldi ownership. The estate farms 99 hectares at two sites, Ornellaia and Bellaria, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot at 38 ha each, Cabernet Franc at 12 ha and Petit Verdot at 7 ha. Those areas describe the estate today, not the planting in 2006. Bolgheri lies in Tuscany, Italy, and the wine carries the Bolgheri DOC. Its blend is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the four red grapes the estate farms.
