Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Da Capo 2007: one of eight vintages
Cuvée Da Capo was made for the first time in 1998 and only in selected years since. The estate has made eight vintages: 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2020. Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Da Capo 2007 is the fourth of them, a dry red from AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, sold here in a 0.75 L bottle.
The name is a musical term meaning “back to the top”. The wine comes from the estate’s oldest vines, and it comes from La Crau, with century-old vines on sand, pebbles (galets) and red clay.

Over 90% Grenache from La Crau, old foudre
The 2007 is primarily from the La Crau lieu-dit, over 90% Grenache, aged in an old foudre, a large wooden tun.
The estate picks the grapes by hand and does not destem them; fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts in concrete vat.

From 2,000 bottles in 1964 to 21 ha of Châteauneuf
Paul Féraud began making wine under his own name in 1964, at first 2,000 bottles a year. In 1987 he, his wife Odette and their daughter Laurence founded Domaine du Pegau as an independent estate on 5 ha. The estate now farms 21 ha of Châteauneuf-du-Pape red and 2 ha of white.

2007: a dry, windy year and a 2017–2032 window
The 2007 vintage at Châteauneuf-du-Pape brought an exceptionally dry, sunny and windy summer, with low rainfall and Mistral winds. Our suggested drinking window for this bottle is 2017 to 2032, so it is inside the window now.
