Chambertin Grand Cru 2004 from Domaine Armand Rousseau
Chambertin is a Grand Cru appellation in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, created on 31 July 1937 for red wine. Domaine Armand Rousseau holds 2.55 ha of it, and this 0.75 L bottle is red wine made from Pinot Noir, the only grape the estate grows.

Rousseau’s four Chambertin parcels, including Larrey
The appellation had 13.14 ha in production in 2022 and averaged 449 hl a year over 2017–2021, about 59,700 bottles. The fruit comes from three east-facing parcels and a fourth, called Larrey, at the edge of the woods, which can only be worked with a horse and plough.
Armand Rousseau bought the domaine’s first Chambertin vines, and his son Charles added more later.

Chambertin in the cellar: 100% new oak, 18 months
The estate ages its Chambertin in 100% new oak barrels. Winemaking uses open stainless-steel vats for about 18 to 20 days, about 90% of the grapes destemmed, then 18 months in barrel with two rackings.

Côte de Nuits 2004: 83/C on the Wine Advocate chart
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart scores Côte de Nuits red wines of 2004 at 83 and attaches the letter C. That note describes the vintage as a whole, not this bottle.
The estate sits in the Côte de Nuits, a hillside of about 20 km that makes mainly red wine from Pinot Noir; more wines from the region are listed under Burgundy.
