The Clos Saint-Jacques parcel
The Clos is split into five strips running down the slope, owned by Rousseau, Fourrier, Jadot, Bruno Clair and Esmonin. Rousseau holds 2.21 ha, about one third of the Clos and the largest single holding. Armand Rousseau bought the parcel in 1954, in the name of his son Charles, when the Comte de Moucheron, who had owned the Clos as a monopole in the 19th century, sold it.
The vineyard faces south-east, near the Combe Lavaux. The soil is Ostrea acuminata marl at the top, Bajocian crinoidal limestone at mid-slope and Prémeaux limestone at the bottom. The estate ages Clos Saint-Jacques in 70 to 80% new oak on average.
