Rousseau’s 2.21 ha, the largest share of the Clos
Clos Saint-Jacques covers 6.70 ha. Rousseau owns 2.21 ha, about one third of it, bought by Armand Rousseau in 1954 in the name of his son Charles, when the Comte de Moucheron sold the Clos in 1954 to four new owners. The vineyard faces south-east, near the Combe Lavaux, and is a Premier Cru, not a Grand Cru, in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. The slope runs from marl at the top to crinoidal limestone at mid-slope and Prémeaux limestone at the bottom.

Oak at Clos Saint-Jacques: the estate’s 70 to 80% new
The estate farms 15.33 ha of Pinot Noir vines in Burgundy. Fermentation runs about 18 to 20 days in open stainless-steel vats, with pumping over and punching down. About 90% of the grapes are destemmed. The estate ages Clos Saint-Jacques in 70 to 80% new oak on average, in barrels from the Allier forest, for 18 months with two rackings.
