ROBERT PARKER "A remarkably deep mahogany/garnet colour with thin tawny rim. The nose is dense, broody and very intense: black dusty fruits, a touch of prune and raisin, lacking the delineation of the Petrus 1959. The palate echoes VCC 1948: powerful, tannic, muscular with raw, perhaps coarse tannins. Notes of morello cherry, blueberry and cigar box. Full-bodied, linear with a cedary, Medocian finish. A wine that is more impressive than it is enjoyable, though I can see no reason why it cannot last another 5-10 years. Tasted October 2005."
