This is a half bottle of 0.375 L of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2000, a red Pauillac. The estate is classified as a Deuxième Cru (Second Growth) in the 1855 Bordeaux classification and lies opposite Château Pichon Baron, next to Château Latour; the original Pichon estate was split in 1850 into Baron and Comtesse. Pauillac lies about 50 km north of Bordeaux on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, between St-Julien to the south and St-Estèphe to the north.

Pichon Comtesse 2000 under May-Eliane de Lencquesaing

In 2000 the estate belonged to May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, who led it from 1978 until she sold it to the Rouzaud family, owners of the Champagne house Louis Roederer. The estate’s second wine, Réserve de Pichon Comtesse, had been made since 1973 and is a different bottling from this grand vin.
