ROBERT PARKER ” The 2007 Series C was an earlier ripening vintage with lower sugar levels but ripe tannins, a small harvest of 34 barrels. It is marked with a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon at 74%, plus 11% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec, aged for 24 months in 90% new French oak barrels. It has quite a concentrated bouquet with intense dark black cherries, red plum, vanilla and iodine, well defined but here, veering more towards the New World. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy and slightly unresolved tannins, perhaps here a little more rustic than the 2005 and 2006, with a slightly savory, tobacco-infused finish with a spicy aftertaste. There is an engaging personality here and it actually improves in the glass, becoming more Gallic in style, more than any other. “
