Sylvain Cathiard Aux Malconsorts Premier Cru 2007 from Vosne-Romanée
This bottle is the 2007 vintage of Aux Malconsorts, a 1er Cru from the commune of Vosne-Romanée, made by Sylvain Cathiard. It is Pinot Noir, a dry red, in the standard 0.75 L format.

The Malconsorts parcel André Cathiard bought in 1984
André Cathiard acquired the Aux Malconsorts parcel in 1984, the same year as the estate’s Romanée-Saint-Vivant parcel. The estate holds about 0.74 ha of Aux Malconsorts, a small share of the climat. Aux Malconsorts is a premier cru, one step below the six grand crus of Vosne-Romanée: Romanée-Conti, La Romanée, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and La Grande Rue.
Vosne-Romanée lies in the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. The village took its present name by an imperial decree of 11 April 1866, which added Romanée to the name of Vosne.

The 2007 made by Sylvain Cathiard
Sylvain Cathiard took over the domaine from his father in 1995. Sébastien had joined the domaine in 2005–2006, when it became Sylvain Cathiard et Fils. The 2007 was made in Sylvain’s time.
On the Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart, red Côte de Nuits 2007 scores 91 with the letter E, which the chart defines as early maturing and accessible. That is a rating of the whole year in the region, not of this wine.

Destemmed, vatted up to 30 days, 18 months in oak
The estate’s plantings are all Pinot Noir, on limestone with a marl-rich clay overlay. The grapes are 100% destemmed and given a pre-fermentation maceration, with total vatting of up to 30 days. The wines are aged about 18 months in oak and bottled without fining.
