Where Les Chaumes sits in the estate’s range

Beyond its three Vosne-Romanée premier crus, the estate holds grand cru parcels in Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux and Corton. The estate produces roughly 600 to 1,200 bottles of Cros Parantoux a year. The estate’s address is 11, rue des Grands Crus in Vosne-Romanée.

How the estate makes its Vosne-Romanée

The estate harvests by hand with sorting at the vine, and uses whole-cluster fermentation selectively depending on the vintage. Wines age 15 to 18 months in oak barrels; new oak ranges from 50 to 100% depending on the cuvée. Across its cuvées the estate also uses cold maceration before fermentation and bottles without filtration.

From Camuzet to Méo: the estate behind the label

Étienne Camuzet was mayor of Vosne-Romanée and a deputy for the Côte-d’Or from 1902 to 1932. After his death in 1946 the estate went to his daughter, and in 1959 it passed to Jean Méo. It was renamed Méo-Camuzet in 1981, and the first wines bottled under that name came from the 1983 vintage. Jean-Nicolas Méo, Jean’s son, runs it today. He worked with Henri Jayer for about ten years after returning to Vosne-Romanée.
