Vineyards in western Oakville

The estate vineyards form four parcels in the western part of the Oakville appellation. Two lie inside To Kalon Vineyard, and the Ballestra and River parcels surround the winery. The winery building was designed by architect Scott Johnson and built between 1989 and 1991, across State Route 29 from the Robert Mondavi Winery. The second wine, Overture, has been produced since 1993.

The Napa Valley label

Napa Valley is the second American Viticultural Area, established on 28 January 1981, and a wine labelled with it must draw at least 85% of its volume from grapes grown inside the boundary. Cabernet Sauvignon covers 54% of Napa Valley plantings; in the 2006 Opus One it is 77%.
