Clos de la Roche and the Dujac parcels

Clos de la Roche is a red-wine Grand Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, with its AOC dating from 1936. Pinot Noir is the main grape. The appellation permits up to 15% of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, which is practically never used. In 2008 the Grand Cru covered 13.41 ha in production.

Dujac owns 1 ha 95 a 37 ca in six parcels. The estate counts Clos de la Roche among its Grand Cru holdings alongside Clos Saint-Denis, Échezeaux, Bonnes-Mares, Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin and Romanée-Saint-Vivant.

Dujac: Seysses family, organic since 2008, whole-cluster Pinot

Jacques Seysses founded the estate in 1968 by buying Domaine Graillet in Morey-Saint-Denis and renaming it Dujac. The second generation of the Seysses family now runs it: Jeremy (from 1998), Diana (from 2001) and Alec (from 2003).

The estate has farmed organically across all its vines since 2008 and received organic certification in 2011. Biodynamic practices were introduced in 2003. The estate’s usual practice is to vinify with little or no destemming depending on the vintage, with indigenous yeasts only, and to age the wines 14 to 18 months in oak with a significant proportion of new barrels.

Morey-Saint-Denis lies in the Burgundy Côte de Nuits, where Dujac also holds Clos Saint-Denis and Bonnes-Mares.
