Domaine Dujac of Morey-Saint-Denis
Jacques Seysses founded Domaine Dujac in 1968 by buying Domaine Graillet in Morey-Saint-Denis and renaming it. The estate grew from 5 ha in 1968 to 15.5 ha in 2005, and its Grand Cru holdings include Échezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin.
The estate vinifies with little or no destemming, depending on the vintage, and uses only indigenous yeasts. Its wines are aged 14 to 18 months in oak barrels.

Échezeaux, a Grand Cru of Flagey-Échezeaux
Échezeaux is one of two grand crus of the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux; the other is Grands Échezeaux. The AOC was created in 1937. The vineyard covered 34.79 ha in 2008 and had about 80 owners in the early 2000s.
Both grand crus belong to the Côte de Nuits, the hillside of the Côte-d’Or that runs from Dijon in the north to Corgoloin in the south. The Côte de Nuits contains 24 grand cru appellations in six communes, and it produces mainly red wine from Pinot Noir. The wine carries the Grand Cru level of Burgundy.
Across the Côte de Nuits, vineyard soils are thin, generally calcareous and well drained. The front of the slope is formed of Middle Jurassic limestone.

The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart gives red Côte de Nuits 2005 a score of 98. Its letter is T, which the chart defines as “still tannic or youthful”. This is a score for the vintage across the region, not for this wine.
