Château Pavie 2012: the year the estate moved up to class A
Château Pavie 2012 comes from the year the estate was promoted. In the 2012 Saint-Émilion classification it went from Premier Grand Cru Classé “B”, which it had held since the first list of 1955, to Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”. The Perse family had bought the estate in 1998. The family’s other properties include Château Pavie-Decesse, Château Bellevue-Mondotte, Château Monbousquet and Clos Lunelles. Since the 2022 classification, Pavie and Château Figeac are the only two estates ranked “A”.
Château Pavie 2012 is a dry red from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation in Bordeaux.

Pavie’s three grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
Château Pavie is made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate’s current plantings are 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate’s second wine is Arômes de Pavie.

The slope behind Pavie
The vineyard is a single block that rises from the foot of the Saint-Émilion slope to the limestone plateau, and it faces mainly south. In 2002 the INAO authorised the integration of the Château La Clusière vines, 2.5 ha, into Pavie. The vineyard has three zones. The plateau has clay-limestone over asteriated limestone, the mid-slope has fine brown clay-limestone, and the foot of the slope has sandy, sandy-clay and sandy-gravel soils.
