Château Angélus 2013: a Saint-Émilion made under the (A) tier
The 2013 vintage of Château Angélus was produced while the estate held Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) status, granted in 2012 and given up in 2022. The red comes from Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of Bordeaux, and the bottle is 0.75 L.
The blend is Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Across the estate, Cabernet Franc makes up 47% of the vines. Merlot is planted on the clay of the hill, Cabernet Franc on the sandy clay-limestone at its foot.

Boüard de Laforest family and the angelus bells
The Boüard de Laforest family has owned the estate since Comte Maurice de Boüard de Laforest inherited the Mazerat property at the beginning of the 20th century (1910). The Angélus enclosure was added in 1920. Hubert de Boüard took over in 1985 and his daughter Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal has directed the château since 2012. The name refers to the angelus bells that can be heard from the vineyard. The second wine is Carillon d’Angélus.

From Grand Cru Classé to the (A) tier
Angélus was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1996 and to the (A) tier in 2012. On 5 January 2022 it withdrew from that year’s classification and is not part of the current ranking.
