The 2005 vintage in Saint-Émilion

Bellefont-Belcier: 14 hectares in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes
Bellefont-Belcier lies in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, on the Bordeaux right bank, between Château Larcis Ducasse and Château Tertre Roteboeuf. Its 14 hectares sit on a plateau and a south-facing slope, on limestone, clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. The present planting is 72% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, spread over 28 plots with vines averaging about 35 years.
The château was built in the early 19th century and named Bellefont, from “Belle Fontaine”. In 1892 the estate won the only gold medal awarded to Bordeaux wines at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris. Vignobles K has owned it since 2017. The estate ages its wines in oak for 14 to 18 months.

Serving a 2005 Bellefont-Belcier
With a vintage chart note of youthful tannins, a decanter is worth using if the wine still tastes young when opened.
