‘Vibrant Oak’ was issued as the fourth release of The Macallan Harmony Collection, together with a companion bottling called ‘Guardian Oak’. This bottle is a single malt Scotch whisky at 44% ABV, in a 0.7 L format. It carries no age or vintage statement.

‘Vibrant Oak’ and ‘Guardian Oak’: the Cirque du Soleil pair

The pair was presented as a tribute to the casks used in making Macallan whisky, and as a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil.

The Macallan’s casks are sherry-seasoned European and American oak, commissioned and seasoned in Jerez.

Three Harmony releases before ‘Vibrant Oak’, two after

The Harmony Collection began in October 2021 with ‘Rich Cacao’, made with the pastry chef Jordi Roca of El Celler de Can Roca. ‘Amber Meadow’ and ‘Green Meadow’ came out as the third release, inspired by nature. ‘Vibrant Oak’ and ‘Guardian Oak’ followed as the fourth.

The tea releases with Jing were the fifth. A coconut pair, ‘Inspired by Fresh Coconut’ and ‘Inspired by Toasted Coconut’, was announced as the sixth and final release. ‘Vibrant Oak’ therefore sits in the middle of a six-part series.

The distillery stands at Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, in Moray, on an estate of 485 acres with the River Spey running alongside it for almost 2 miles. Edrington owns the distillery. Speyside lies inside the Highland area, so under the Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009 a bottle like this may be labelled Speyside or Highlands.
