Bonnes-Mares between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis
The Bonnes-Mares appellation is one grand cru that straddles two communes. Most of it lies in Chambolle-Musigny, a small part in Morey-Saint-Denis, and it is counted once among the 24 grand crus of the Côte de Nuits. Its neighbour Musigny is the only other grand cru of Chambolle-Musigny.

Maison Roche de Bellene, négociant behind the 2005 label
Maison Roche de Bellene is a négociant house founded by Nicolas Potel in Beaune. It buys grapes and wines from growers and owns no vines; the vineyards are owned or rented by the separate Domaine de Bellene or belong to partner growers. Nicolas Potel died on 27 June 2025 at the age of 56.
Its partners are organically certified or farm sustainably, and the house favours old vines of more than 40 years. Clos Saint-Denis, Clos de la Roche and Chambertin from the 2005 vintage also carry the Roche de Bellene label.
Groupe Bellene, the négociant’s parent, also releases Collection Bellenum, a back-vintage series carrying the Roche de Bellene label. A 2005 Clos de la Roche in magnum is part of that series.

How the Côte de Nuits 2005 vintage is rated
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart gives red Côte de Nuits 2005 a score of 98 and the letter T, which it reads as still tannic or youthful. That is a rating of the vintage across the region, not of this bottle.
