The wine must be 100% Sangiovese, age at least 24 months in oak containers of any size and rest at least 4 months in bottle. Vinification, ageing and bottling must all take place inside the production zone.

Grapes must reach at least 12.00% natural alcohol, with a maximum yield of 8 t/ha. When a vineyard (“vigna”) is named on the label, the figures become 12.50% and 7 t/ha, with no enrichment allowed.

At release the wine must have at least 12.50% total alcohol, 5.0 g/l total acidity and 26.0 g/l non-reducing extract. The label must state the vintage.
