Côte de Beaune 2020 on the Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart

Meursault Narvaux 2020 from Domaine Roulot

Domaine Roulot’s Meursault Narvaux 2020 comes from the estate’s 0.50 ha parcel in the Narvaux lieu-dit. The wine is a dry white made from Chardonnay. It is a village-level Meursault, not a premier cru. This offer is a bottle of 0.75 L.

The domaine’s village wines see no more than 20% new oak.

Meursault sits in Côte de Beaune at the point where Chardonnay takes over from Pinot Noir along the hillside: around Beaune the vines are mainly Pinot Noir, and from Meursault southwards Chardonnay dominates.

Jean-Marc Roulot and the Meursault domaine

Domaine Roulot is based in Meursault, at 1, rue Charles Giraud. It describes itself as a family estate that grows and vinifies mainly white Meursault. Jean-Marc Roulot has run it since 1989. Before him, after his father Guy died early, the wines were made first by Ted Lemon and then by Franck Grux.

The domaine is certified organic (Agriculture Biologique). The family has also owned a still for more than 100 years, and the estate makes fruit brandies, liqueurs, Fine and Marc de Bourgogne alongside its wine.

Its 1973 Meursault Charmes placed second among the white wines at the 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting.
