This is the 2006 vintage of Domaine Cecile Tremblay’s Échezeaux du Dessus, a Grand Cru red from the Côte de Nuits. It is a dry Pinot Noir in a 0.75 L bottle.
Échezeaux is one of the two grand crus of Flagey-Échezeaux, one of six Côte de Nuits communes that hold grand cru appellations. Flagey-Échezeaux holds two of them, Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux.

Échezeaux and Flagey-Échezeaux in the Côte de Nuits
The Côte de Nuits in Burgundy contains 24 grand cru appellations. They lie in six communes: Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Flagey-Échezeaux and Vosne-Romanée. Soils are thin, generally calcareous and well drained, and the area produces mainly red wine from Pinot Noir. Soils range from lean, very calcareous ground at the top of the slope to deeper soils, decarbonated at the surface, on the piedmont. The vineyards form a strip about 20 km long that narrows in places to about 200 m wide. The climate is cool oceanic with continental influences, with about 750 mm of rain a year.

A mixed 2006 in the Côte de Nuits
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart gives Côte de Nuits red 2006 a score of 89 and the letter I, which stands for an irregular vintage. The 89 describes the year across the Côte de Nuits red wines, not this estate’s wine.
