Bersano Barolo Badarina 1982 in a 3 L bottle
This is a 3 L bottle of Bersano Barolo Badarina 1982, a dry red Nebbiolo from the Piedmont Barolo zone. Barolo Badarina is named after Cascina Badarina in Serralunga d’Alba, which Bersano acquired in 1968. A 3 L bottle holds four standard 0.75 L bottles.
Barolo has held DOCG status since 1 July 1980, so the 1982 was made as a Barolo DOCG. Barolo must be made from Nebbiolo alone.

Cascina Badarina in Serralunga d’Alba
The farmstead lies at just under 500 m elevation in Serralunga d’Alba, and its vineyards face south-east. The soil is calcareous, with clayey and sandy marls. Today’s Barolo Badarina is a Barolo DOCG made from Nebbiolo grown in the Badarina locality. Bersano ages Barolo Badarina for a minimum of 48 months in oak barrels, tonneaux and bottle.

Bersano, Nizza Monferrato, since 1907
Bersano was founded in 1907 by Giuseppe Bersano in Nizza Monferrato. His son Arturo took over management in 1935, and the Massimelli family has led the company since 1985. Today it farms 230 ha across the Langhe and Monferrato and owns 10 historic farmsteads. Cascina Cremosina joined the family in 1912, Cascina Generala in 1995 and Cascina del Ruchè in Castagnole Monferrato, 50 ha, in 2004.
