Krug Brut Rosé NV: a rosé first made from the 1976 harvest
Krug Brut Rosé is the house’s rosé, first blended from the 1976 harvest. This 0.75 L bottle sits among the rosés in our Champagne range, classed as AOC Champagne. Henri and Rémi Krug of the fifth generation made the first Krug Rosé blend with the 1976 harvest, and it was presented in 1983.

How each Krug Rosé edition is blended
Krug re-creates its Rosé every year as a new numbered edition. The numbering was introduced in 2016, and the blend is published for each edition separately. The grapes are Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay, and the Pinot Noir includes a share of traditionally macerated wine, which gives the colour.
The 26ème Édition is 44% Pinot Noir (11% of it traditionally macerated), 30% Chardonnay and 26% Meunier. That edition combines 28 wines from 7 years, the youngest from 2014 and the oldest from 2005, with reserve wines making up 33%.

Krug in Reims
Joseph Krug founded the house in 1843, and it is based at 5 rue Coquebert in Reims. Olivier Krug, of the sixth generation, is house director. Since 1999 Krug has belonged to LVMH, which bought it from Rémy Cointreau.
The house owns about 30% of the vineyards that supply it, roughly 20 hectares. The remainder comes from 70 to 100 growers across about 250 plots. Each year Krug tastes about 400 wines, around 250 from the current year and 150 reserve wines, and ferments in 205-litre oak casks that average about 20 years old.

Krug Rosé: 5 years on the lees, no harvest year
Krug Rosé ages on the lees for 5 years or more before release. It is non-vintage, so the label carries no harvest year. Since 2016 each Rosé has an Édition number, and since 2011 Krug bottles carry a Krug iD code, so the edition of a bottle can be traced from the bottle itself.
