Dom Pérignon 2013: a vintage for the long term

Dom Pérignon 2013 is the vintage prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, made only in years the house judges worthy of a vintage. It blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, carries the AOC Champagne designation and is a brut. Its drinking window runs from 2023 to 2043: the wine is open for business now and has two decades ahead of it.

A cuvée named after a monk

The name honours Dom Pierre Pérignon, the Benedictine cellar master of the abbey of Hautvillers in the seventeenth century, whose work on blending is part of the founding story of Champagne. Dom Pérignon is never released as a non-vintage wine: each bottle is the expression of one year, assembled to be recognisable across vintages yet marked by its own season. The wine is listed in our Reims selection, alongside other prestige cuvées.

The 2013 vintage in Champagne

2013 was a late harvest, picked in cool conditions in late September and October, which favours freshness and tension. On the Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart Champagne 2013 scores 95 and is marked as still youthful: wines with energy and structure that reward patience.

Serving and keeping

Serve at 10–12 °C in a white-wine glass so that its aromas can develop. Keep bottles lying down in a cool, dark place. A young Dom Pérignon suits oysters, sushi and white fish; with age it turns towards richer pairings such as poultry or mushrooms.
