Talismán is made at the El Laguito factory in Havana. The leaves are aged for more than two years and the blend is the Línea Clásica. The 2017 limited edition uses tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region in Pinar del Río, Cuba. Cohiba tobacco in general comes from two zones of Vuelta Abajo, San Luis and San Juan y Martínez.
Habanos S.A. cigars are made completely by hand and carry the Denominación de Origen Protegida Habanos.
The 2017 launch in London
Habanos S.A. presented the Cohiba Talismán Limited Edition 2017 on 7 November 2017 at the Corinthia Hotel in London. In the name, 2017 is the year of the limited edition, not a harvest year as on a wine label.
Cohiba from 1966 private brand to export
Cohiba dates to 1966, when it began as a limited-production private brand. Cubatabaco formally launched it in 1968. It went on sale internationally (outside the U.S.) in 1982, timed with the World Cup in Spain. Habanos S.A. now manages 27 handmade-cigar brands, Cohiba among them.
