Reims 2006 on the Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart

Cristal 2006 magnum: Brut, Grand Cru, drinking window 2018 to 2050
A 1.5 L magnum of Louis Roederer Cristal 2006, twice the standard 0.75 L bottle. It is a white Champagne of Grand Cru class, Brut in style, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Louis Roederer is a Champagne house based in Reims, which is why the wine is listed under that city. Reims lies in the Marne department about 129 km northeast of Paris and is one of the two commercial centres of the Champagne region. It is not a separate appellation: wines from the area are sold under the AOC Champagne.
Cristal was created in 1876 at the request of Tsar Alexander II and became commercially available in 1945. The house bottles it in transparent flat-bottomed glass wrapped in orange cellophane against light, and it is riddled by hand. Cristal is drawn from 45 plots in Grand Cru vineyards.
The 2006 growing season was warm overall, with a cool, rainy August and dry, warm September conditions. The 2006 blend is 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, with 20% of the grapes vinified in oak and no malolactic fermentation, and an average of 5 years in the cellar before disgorgement.

Champagne 2006 on the vintage chart: 90, ready to drink
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate vintage chart gives Champagne 2006 a score of 90 and the letter R, which stands for ready to drink. That figure describes the vintage as a whole. The drinking window opened in 2018 and runs to 2050, so in 2026 the wine is inside it with 24 years left. The window is the range given for this bottle; the chart score covers every Champagne of the year.
