Richebourg: 8.03 ha of Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru, shared by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and about ten others

Richebourg is a Grand Cru of the Burgundy Côte de Nuits, recognised by decree in 1936. The delimited area is 8.03 ha, split between the lieux-dits Les Richebourg and Les Verroilles. It is not a monopole: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti holds 3.51 ha, and the rest is shared among about ten other owners. The soils are brown limestone, thin on the upper slope and deeper lower down. More wines from this Grand Cru are in our Richebourg, Côte de Nuits section.

Gros Frère et Soeur: a 1963 split from Domaine Louis Gros, grand crus in new Cavin oak

Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur was created in 1963, when the siblings Gustave and Colette Gros combined their inheritances after the division of Domaine Louis Gros. Bernard Gros, their nephew, took over after Gustave’s death. The domaine farms about 20 ha, and its grand cru holdings are Richebourg, Échezeaux, Grands Échezeaux and Clos de Vougeot.

The domaine ages its Grand Cru wines in 100% new oak. Grapes are completely destemmed after a manual harvest and sorting. The barrels come mainly from the cooper Cavin and serve for at most two vintages.
