ROBERT PARKER ” Nearly perfect, one of the most prodigious dry white wines I have ever tasted is the 2003 Ermitage Cuvee de l’Oree. A 669-case cuvee fashioned from yields of 10 hectoliters per hectare, it offers aromas and flavors beyond anything I have previously tasted in a dry white. It tastes like a liqueur of licorice intermixed with a liqueur of honeysuckle, quince, and rocks. Opulent, viscous, and full-bodied, at first glance it is seemingly fragile and over the top, but it boasts extraordinary freshness and liveliness as well as monster concentration and a finish that lasts over 60 seconds. I suspect it will drink beautifully for 3-4 years, then go into a funky stage, and re-emerge two decades later. It may be a 100-year wine … but who knows? Without question, it is a tour de force in winemaking. “

Heritage & Collectibility

Rooted in the esteemed M. Chapoutier heritage, Ermitage de l’Oree Blanc embodies over a century of winemaking excellence dating back to 1879. Produced in strictly limited quantities—often fewer than 6,000 bottles per vintage—its scarcity drives robust demand in collector markets globally.

This vintage’s acclaim and provenance reinforce its stature as a secure investment within fine wine portfolios, steadily appreciating while celebrating Chapoutier’s enduring legacy of quality and innovation.

Sensory Profile & Usage

On the nose, expect elegant aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, and subtle hints of toasted almond. The palate reveals a harmonious balance of crisp citrus zest, honeyed notes, and mineral undertones culminating in a long, refined finish.

Serve slightly chilled at 10–12°C to fully appreciate its nuanced character. Optimal storage is in a cool, dark cellar with consistent humidity to preserve complexity. Pair with premium seafood, such as seared scallops, or rich poultry dishes to elevate any gourmet experience.
