ROBERT PARKER ” The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva shows remarkable depth and concentration. It is a round, supple wine layered with wild cherries, menthol, spices and violets. The tannins are imposing but there is more than enough fruit to balance the wine’s structural components. The 2005 doesn’t quite reach the peak of the 2004, but it isn’t too far off the mark. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.
This is another set of stunning wines from Poggio di Sotto and proprietor Piero Palmucci. I tasted everything in the cellar through 2010 and was deeply impressed. The only problem with these wines is their limited availability in the US. Hopefully that will change soon. Biodynamic farming, low yields and extended cask aging are the rule at this tiny jewel of a property “
