ROBERT PARKER ” One of the great renditions of this cuvée in recent times is the 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, a magical wine that unfurls in the glass with a deep and complex bouquet of red berries and plums mingled with hints of raw cocoa, violets, blood orange and peony, complemented by enticing carnal bass notes. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it’s seamless and complete, with fine concentration, racy but ripe acids and ample reserves of fine, powdery tannin, concluding with a long and sapid finish. The 2005 Clos Saint-Jacques is a decade away from full maturity, but its reference-point quality has long been impossible to miss. This bottle, enjoyed in a Burgundian restaurant, only amplified my regret that I have none of this particular vintage in my own cellar. “

Heritage & Collectibility

Limited production yields approximately 4,000 bottles annually, underscoring its rarity and desirability. This vintage, from 2005—a year celebrated among Burgundy enthusiasts—further enhances its cachet.
With increasing global demand and a strong track record in auctions, this wine is prized by investment-grade wine collectors seeking a distinguished Burgundy with enduring market value and collector appeal.
Sensory Profile & Usage
Experience a compelling sensory journey, starting with a deeply aromatic bouquet featuring ripe black cherry, cranberry, and subtle hints of forest floor and truffle. On the palate, refined tannins and lively acidity deliver a full-bodied profile layered with flavors of dark plum, clove, and a lingering mineral finish.
Serve slightly below room temperature (16-18°C) to best reveal its intricate character. Ideal for decanting for one hour to fully open its bouquet, this Premier Cru pairs exquisitely with grilled duck, roasted game, and aged cheeses, offering an unparalleled luxury dining experience.
