THE BOTTLE CAPSULE IS DAMAGED
ROBERT PARKER ” One of the big stories in 2006 is the resurrection of this once very good Pomerol estate now that it has been purchased by Catherine Pere-Verge, who has done so much to raise the level of quality at Chateau Le Gay. From a vineyard well-situated between Le Pin and Trotanoy, La Violette’s 2006 is a 100% Merlot cuvee that is running on all cylinders. Considering some of the great old vintages from the fifties and sixties, it is not surprising to find beautiful purity, fine tannins, and loads of sweet raspberry, black cherry, licorice, and earth notes in this medium-bodied, opulent, luscious effort. It should drink well for 15-20+ years. A brilliant effort! “

Collectible Bordeaux Vintage Pomerol

Overview
Chateau La Violette Pomerol 2006 is a truly exceptional wine, representing the pinnacle of winemaking excellence from one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious appellations. This vintage is a rare gem, highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs for its exquisite character, limited production, and significant investment potential. The 2006 vintage in Pomerol produced wines of remarkable concentration and finesse, and Chateau La Violette stands out as a prime example. This wine embodies the unique terroir of Pomerol, offering a sensory experience that is both profound and unforgettable. Its elegance, complexity, and aging potential make it a prized addition to any serious wine collection.
Key Features & Benefits
The 2006 Chateau La Violette is crafted almost exclusively from Merlot grapes, grown on the estate’s incredibly small, meticulously maintained vineyard. The terroir, characterized by its unique clay and gravel soils, imparts a distinctive minerality and richness to the wine. Traditional winemaking techniques, including hand-harvesting and careful sorting, ensure that only the highest quality fruit is used. Aging in French oak barrels, a significant portion of which are new, adds layers of complexity, structure, and spice notes. This meticulous process, combined with the exceptional conditions of the 2006 vintage, results in a Vintage Pomerol of unparalleled depth.

Heritage & Collectibility
Chateau La Violette has a long and storied history, though it remains one of Pomerol’s best-kept secrets due to its incredibly small size and limited production. The estate’s commitment to quality over quantity has earned it a cult following among discerning collectors. The 2006 vintage is particularly collectible, representing a high point in the Chateau’s recent history. The scarcity of Chateau La Violette 2006 bottles further enhances its desirability and investment value, making it a true collectible Bordeaux. Owning a bottle is owning a piece of Pomerol’s winemaking heritage.
Sensory Profile & Usage
The La Violette Wine 2006 exhibits a deep ruby color, hinting at its concentration and depth. The bouquet is a complex tapestry of aromas, including ripe black cherry, plum, violet, truffle, and subtle notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety, with beautifully integrated tannins and a lingering finish. This Pomerol 2006 is best served at around 16-18°C (60-64°F) after decanting for at least an hour to allow its full aromatic complexity to unfold. It pairs exquisitely with rich dishes such as roasted lamb, duck confit, or mature cheeses. For optimal cellaring, store the bottle horizontally in a cool, dark, and humid environment, where it will continue to evolve and develop for decades.
