ROBERT PARKER “The Grands Echezeaux exhibits a deep color, a rich, cassis scented bouquet, a judicious use of toasty new oak, light to medium body, and 5-7 years of potential evolution. Here is an estate making good, commercial examples of their appellations. However, with lower yields and perhaps a more extended cuvaison, this domaine has the potential to produce positively brilliant wines. I do not think it is just that the domaine seeks to produce wines that are light and ready to drink when released. The 1988s are all soft, very forward, and lacking somewhat in concentration, but they are attractive and easy-to-drink wines.”

Description Overview
Discover the Domaine Lamarche Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru 1988 1.5L, an exceptional magnum that epitomizes the prestigious heritage of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. This 1988 vintage, representing over three decades of meticulous aging, captures the rare finesse and power intrinsic to the Grands Echézeaux vineyard. With fewer magnums available worldwide, its exclusivity enhances both its collector appeal and investment-grade status among discerning connoisseurs and wine investors.
Key Features & Benefits
Crafted with traditional Burgundian precision, this 1988 Grand Cru was produced from sustainably farmed Pinot Noir grapes meticulously hand-harvested from the Grands Echézeaux parcel. The wine was matured in French oak barrels for approximately 18 months, lending it a profound complexity and silky texture unrivaled by competitors.
Its large-format 1.5L bottle not only aids ideal aging but also ensures a more graceful evolution—highly prized by collectors seeking longevity and value preservation.

Heritage & Collectibility
Domaine Lamarche is revered for upholding centuries-old Burgundian winemaking traditions, forging a legacy synonymous with refinement and integrity. The 1988 Grands Echézeaux benefits from a limited production run, making existing magnums exceedingly rare on the secondary market.
Its reputation as an investment-grade vintage has driven consistent demand among collectors, underlining its stature as a trophy piece that promises both emotional satisfaction and financial appreciation.
Sensory Profile & Usage
This Grand Cru unveils a captivating nose of ripe black cherries, wild raspberries, and subtle hints of forest floor and spices. On the palate, experience a harmonious balance of elegant tannins, vibrant acidity, and layered flavors of dark fruit and earthy minerality, culminating in a lengthy, refined finish.
For optimal enjoyment, serve slightly below room temperature (16-18°C) and decant prior to tasting to fully reveal its complexity. Store in a temperature-controlled cellar, and pair delicately with gourmet dishes such as roasted duck breast or truffle-infused risotto to enhance its luxurious profile.
