The Estate
Domaine Cécile Tremblay represents the new generation of Burgundian excellence. Taking over her family’s vines in Morey-Saint-Denis in 2003, Cécile has quickly established herself as one of the region’s finest winemakers. With meticulous organic viticulture, minimal intervention in the cellar, and an unwavering focus on terroir expression, she produces wines of extraordinary purity and elegance. Her holdings include precious parcels in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations, all farmed with exceptional care and converted to biodynamic practices. Production is tiny, making her wines among the most sought-after in all of Burgundy.
Echezeaux Grand Cru – The Upper Slopes
Echezeaux is one of the largest Grand Crus in Burgundy, comprising multiple climats with varying terroirs. The ‘Du Dessus’ designation indicates vines from the upper slopes, generally considered among the finest parcels within the appellation for their excellent drainage, limestone content, and optimal exposure.
The terroir combines classic Vosne-Romanée limestone with red clay, producing wines that balance power with elegance, concentration with finesse. The upper slopes benefit from cooler temperatures and better drainage, resulting in wines of particular refinement and aromatic complexity.
Cécile Tremblay’s parcel in Echezeaux Du Dessus is meticulously farmed with biodynamic principles, allowing the terroir’s nobility to shine through. Her minimal intervention winemaking preserves the wine’s purity while revealing the Grand Cru’s inherent complexity and aging potential.

The 2006 Vintage
The 2006 vintage in Burgundy produced wines of classical proportions—elegant, structured, and built for long aging. A cool growing season with ideal harvest conditions resulted in wines with vibrant acidity, refined tannins, and excellent balance.
For Cécile Tremblay, 2006 was an early vintage in her tenure, yet the wines show remarkable maturity of style and profound terroir expression. This Echezeaux Du Dessus has aged beautifully, developing tertiary complexity while retaining excellent fruit and structure. The vintage’s natural elegance perfectly complements Cécile’s refined approach to winemaking.
Tasting Experience

Service & Food Pairing
Serve at 16-17°C (61-63°F) in large Burgundy stems. Decant for 1 hour to allow the mature aromatics to fully express themselves and integrate. This evolved wine benefits from gentle aeration to reveal its complete aromatic spectrum.
Exceptional pairings:
- Roasted pheasant with autumn truffle and wild mushrooms
- Beef tenderloin with foie gras and Périgord truffle
- Wild hare à la royale with dark chocolate sauce
- Duck breast with cherry and port reduction
- Selection of mature, washed-rind Burgundian cheeses including Époisses and Langres
Cellaring & Evolution
Drinking beautifully now (2024-2032) at full maturity with excellent structure for continued evolution. The 2006’s classical structure and Cécile’s precise winemaking have allowed graceful aging. While showing tertiary complexity today, the wine will hold well for another 5-10 years. Store in a cool, dark cellar at 12-14°C with 70% humidity.
Collector’s Note: Cécile Tremblay’s wines are among the most sought-after in modern Burgundy, with production so microscopic that allocation is nearly impossible. This 2006 Echezeaux Du Dessus represents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully mature Grand Cru from one of the region’s most talented and collectible producers. At €1,170, it reflects both the wine’s exceptional quality and the extreme rarity of Cécile’s Grand Cru production.
